Privacy policy

Phenophase is built to need as little of your data as possible. There are no accounts, no logins, and no newsletter sign-up yet, so there is nothing for you to hand over to read the site.
Analytics, without cookies
To learn which pages people find useful and how fast they load, Phenophase uses a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool. It sets no cookies, does not track you across other sites, and never builds an advertising profile. What it keeps is aggregated and anonymous: page views, load times, a rough country-level region, and broad device type, none of it tied to you as an individual.
No advertising trackers
Phenophase runs no ad networks and no third-party advertising or social-media tracking pixels.
Outbound links
When you follow a link to another site, including any affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure), that site is governed by its own privacy practices and may set its own cookies. We have no control over them; please review their policies.
Embedded maps and webcams
A few pages embed third-party content. The map is an embedded OpenStreetMap view; loading it can expose your IP address to the map's tile servers, the same as visiting OpenStreetMap directly. Alongside every map we also print the plain coordinates and a direct link, so the location is reachable without the embed. For live webcams we keep your exposure low: where a camera is a still image, we proxy it through our own server, so your browser only ever talks to phenophase.org and never the camera's host; where a camera is a live video stream, we use the no-cookie version of the embed to limit tracking, but loading it still reveals your IP address to the video provider, as any embedded video does.
Server logs
Like nearly all websites, our host may keep standard server logs (IP address, request time, user agent) for security and reliability. These are not used to identify or profile you.
Children
Phenophase is a general-audience conditions site, is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from them.
Changes
If we add anything that collects personal data (an email newsletter, for example), we will update this policy and describe it here before turning it on.
