Accessibility statement

Phenophase is built to be usable by as many people as possible, and accessibility is part of how we judge whether a page is done.

What we aim for

We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. In practice that means: text and meaningful color combinations are checked to meet AA contrast on our warm-paper background; the site is navigable by keyboard with visible focus indicators; pages use semantic, structured HTML with a single main heading and labeled landmarks; decorative illustrations are hidden from screen readers and informative ones are described; and the site is responsive and readable on a phone.

Motion

Every animation on the site is gentle and purposeful, and all of it is gated behind your “reduce motion” system setting. With reduced motion turned on, you get the same content and layout instantly, with no movement.

Known limitations

A few pages embed third-party content we do not fully control, such as an OpenStreetMap map and a live webcam; their internal accessibility is set by those providers. We provide text alternatives (the plain coordinates and a direct link) alongside the map so the information is still reachable.
